Rotating schedule (every other weekend off) – Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Work Location:
Crisis – Franklin County Crisis Care Center; Columbus, Ohio

Summary of Job The Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services, assists in creating a recovery environment, and advocates for the needs and rights of every individual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Guest Care & Advocacy
Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participants’ hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
Models hope, personal responsibility and self‑advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained.
Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose).
Compliance & Risk Management
Completes clinical documentation as required.
Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
Additional Duties
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education/Licenses
Successful completion of Peer Employment Training, thereby obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
Skills
Basic computer skills.
Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools.
Effective communication skills.
Must be able to pass de‑escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
Driving Requirements
If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non‑Driver Attestation form must be signed.
Miscellaneous Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless residing in a state where funder or government regulations set a different minimum age requirement.
Travel required based on business need.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.

Must be able to pass a seven‑year background check, substance‑abuse testing and/or tuberculosis testing (if applicable), obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states, pass education verification, and if driving is required, pass a three‑year motor vehicle report and meet the minimum eligibility requirements criteria of the insurance carrier.
Physical Demands May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye‑hand‑foot coordination; use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
Work Environment May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused. Warmline over‑the‑phone Peer Support Specialists will work remotely and will not be in an office or behavioral health facility.
