Program Eligibility This position is eligible for the

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) , a student loan payment reimbursement program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amounts (up to $200,000) and eligibility periods (1–5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

Assure laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance, including lab certification standards for ABC, BOC, JC, and CARF.

Manage inventory, resources, and contract employees; develop and oversee the orthotics and prosthetic clinical schedule.

Conduct site surveys of commercial vendors, review vendor quotes, and devise short‑ and long‑term goals.

Maintain quality assurance activities and ensure NCOPE standards are followed.

Perform patient clinical assessments (gait, range of motion, etc.) and develop prescription criteria for prosthetic and orthotic devices.

Coordinate with certified prosthetists/orthotists to review patient assessments and care plans.

Fit, fabricate, adjust, and repair custom prostheses; measure, cast, and scan patients.

Use digitizer and CAD‑CAM software to create positive molds and perform impressions for materials such as metal, thermoplastics, and composites.

Execute biomechanical/bench alignment, metal component formation, and bench fabrication for prostheses and orthoses.

Ensure manufacturing specifications are followed for patient safety.

Evaluate final products for specifications, trim lines, contours, aesthetics, and safety.

Submit, pack, and ship necessary items related to work.

Document workloads, procedure coding, progress notes in the electronic medical record.

Maintain current knowledge of new products, procedures, materials, and techniques.

Attend professional seminars and manufacturer training seminars.

Complete mandatory hospital training.

Act as an educator on prosthetics and orthotics, documentation, and workload capture.

Customer Service Requirements Incumbent will display a cooperative attitude, work effectively with management, co‑workers, patients, and the general public. They will ensure productivity is maintained and provide patients with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.

Age‑Specific Competencies The incumbent must: – Understand changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development for adult and geriatric age groups. – Assess and interpret data about the patient's status. – Identify age‑specific needs and provide appropriate care based on those needs.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
