Summary Provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies and procedures. Directs and manages the care of designated patients, utilizes effective communication, and maintains a safe work environment.
Job Duties
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients.
Recognize the need for and initiate collaboration/communication with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and take actions to proactively resolve patient needs.
Synthesize available data, information, and knowledge relevant to the situation to make decisions which optimize patient outcomes based on ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics.
Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety, in accordance with established policies and procedures, utilizing evidence‑based practice and participating in research projects as applicable.
Use effective and appropriate verbal and non‑verbal communication styles with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues.
Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout treatment course to facilitate an effective transition of care.
Function as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals and objectives, and participate in all phases of the performance improvement process.
Perform validated technical skills based upon clinical specialty and unit practice.
Utilize technology and incorporate it to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
Demonstrate leadership and team building skills including teaching and mentoring new colleagues and department interns, delegating based on skills and needs, and providing input for performance appraisals of care delivery team members.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of accredited Nursing program.
Knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.
Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty.
Attainment and maintenance of unit‑specific competencies.
Basic computer skills.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support – State of Pennsylvania upon hire.
Registered Nurse, Licensed Registered Nurse_PA – State of Pennsylvania upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Physical Demands Lift and carry 40‑50 lbs. Includes pushing/pulling patients on bed or stretcher (requires 29‑lb push force) and lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Frequent or continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters may walk 8‑10 miles per shift. Activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR may be required.
