Position shift: Second Shift 3:30PM-2:00AM Monday - Thursday
Summary Sets up and operates CNC Burn Table (Kinetic or similar) machine to cut or perform other machining operations on steel in the manufacture of parts for heavy machinery. Determines operation sequence, selects and adjusts machine to perform proper cutting/burning of plate. Trains and inspects work of other shop personnel in the correct operation of CNC burn table processes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC burn table (Kinetic or similar) machines to cut or perform machining operations on steel for heavy machinery parts
Determine the sequence of operation and adjust machine settings to perform proper cutting and burning of plate materials
Verify that finished products meet print specifications and quality standards, using measuring tools such as calipers and tape measures
Download and manage all files related to laser burning, ensuring optimal nesting for maximum plate usage
Write, edit, and save CNC programs according to print specifications
Produce parts according to production schedules, maintaining efficiency and accuracy
Perform required maintenance on the machines to ensure smooth operations
Read and interpret intermediate level print and technical drawings with accuracy
Follow safety procedures and ensure proper use of PPE
Actively contribute to problem solving and decision making to improve production efficiency
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Knowledge
LEAN Principles
Skills
Proficient in CNC oxy-fuel and plasma machine burning
Intermediate understanding of CNC operations
Intermediate shop print reading skills
Proficient in using measuring tools such as calipers and tape measures
Strong intermediate math skills, including knowledge of the decimal equivalent chart
Comprehensive understanding of different plate alloys
Proficient in using oxy-fuel torches, stick welders, hydraulic straightening presses, and various hand tools
Demonstrates proper crane usage and safe rigging techniques with chains, slings, plate clamps, plate hooks, and magnets
Knowledge of and ability to use the daily burn schedule
Ability to identify tooling (mills, drills, taps, etc.)
Ability to use hydraulic straightening presses effectively
Effectively uses dispatch list for scheduling the daily burn production requirements
Ability to quickly learn and effectively use nesting software
Skilled in producing parts according to production schedules
Abilities
Ability to respectfully mentor fellow employees
Ability to foster and work within a team environment
Actively participates in safety programs and complies with all Columbia safety policies
Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at one time
Maintains a clean and safe work area

Education And/Or Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 1 year of experience in CNC operation or related field preferred
College, Vocational, Technical School, or equivalent on the job training
Industrial Math

Basic Vertical Milling-Drilling Processes
Basic General Machining Processes
