Location: Bel Aire, Kansas.
Shift: 12 hour shifts (7 A.M. – 7 P.M.). Full‑time, rotating shift differential of $4.00/hr on weekends.
Base pay: $33.00/hr – $39.00/hr.
$5,000 SIGN‑ON BONUS (limited time only).
On‑Demand Pay: Paid next day with early access to earned wages.
Job Summary Provides professional nursing care under the direction and supervision of a physician, consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Catholic Care Center – Senior Behavioral Health Program, and maintaining evidence‑based nursing practice. Coordinates and delegates nursing care, utilizes the nursing process, and collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team. May assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed. Provides compassionate person‑centered care to patients aged 55 and older and maintains a safe therapeutic environment.
General Responsibilities
Demonstrates performance of tasks necessary to maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu and provide optimum patient care.
Provides direct patient care and assistance with ADLs (dressing, bathing, eating, etc.) to ensure quality care and management of the patient.
Leads or assists with program‑related activities and groups that reinforce daily goals, learned skills, and cognitive stimulation appropriate to role scope and training.
Uses trained program de‑escalation techniques and supports a trauma‑informed person‑centered approach toward patients.
Performs patient rounds, safety checks, and promptly reports any safety issue to the registered nurse during the shift.
Performs and documents vital signs on assigned patients.
Demonstrates appropriate use of patient care equipment and follows unit safety practices, including hand hygiene, PPE, use of assisted devices, falls prevention, and contraband prevention.
Provides patient education on medications and care and documents all in the medical record.
Participates in treatment team meetings, quality programs, and safety initiatives.
Manages new admissions, discharge processes, and updates nursing plans as needed.
Registered Nurse Functions
Provides and receives shift report and performs assigned tasks; may serve in a charge nurse role as assigned.
Leads plan of care and carries out treatment plan objectives and interventions.
Oversees care provided to patients and directs care as needed.
Ensures accurate medication administration per physician orders.
Notifies the physician of condition changes or other clinical concerns promptly.
Completes shift assessments and documents in the medical record accurately and timely.
Works with visitors and families to ensure unit safety.
Monitors patient condition, implements best practice standards, policies, and protocols.
Supervises licensed practical nursing and non‑licensed support staff to ensure task completion to care standards.
Obtains, transcribes, and carries out physician orders; performs medication and specimen collection.
Reviews lab results, reports abnormal or critical values to the physician per policy.
Ensures therapeutic programs are delivered as scheduled.
Adjusts assignments and activities to maintain a safe therapeutic care environment.
Completes accurate and thorough documentation reflecting care provided.
Performs new patient admissions and discharge processes.
Provides patient education on medications and care; documents in the medical record.
Participates in quality improvement and treatment team meetings.
Completes structured assessments and implements swift interventions for fall or suicide prevention.
Completes initial and updated nursing treatment plans for new admissions.
Reports adverse events to leadership and completes incident reports promptly.
Additional Skills & Requirements
Demonstrates good communication, time management, prioritization, and critical thinking.
Basic knowledge of common psychiatric diagnoses and nursing care for this population.
Participates in hospital educational programs as requested.
Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Accurately documents and charts observations and clinical data.
Delivers age‑appropriate care to the patient population.
Relevant Work Experience
Minimum one year in hospital care or senior living environment as an RN; two years preferred.
One or more years in an acute senior behavioral health hospital program preferred.
Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel) and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
Basic knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
Telephone and communication skills to facilitate care.
Clinical Settings
BLS/CPR and other certifications as determined by specialty and clinical setting.
Must meet the physical requirements of the position.
Education & Licensure
Graduate of Accredited Two‑Year Nursing Program – RN (BSN preferred).
Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Kansas.
Special Qualifications
CPI/De‑escalation program certification.
Current CPR/BSL certification.
Trauma‑informed care training preferred.
Dementia‑specific advanced training preferred.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, and stoop for long periods.
Perform moderate to heavy lifting (≥ 50 lbs.) during shift.
Exposure to blood, chemicals, and other bodily fluids.
Possibility of exposure to unpredictable or violent patient behaviors.
Maintain a safe and clean environment, follow safety procedures and infection‑control policies.
Preserve patient confidentiality at all times.
