Position: External Raw Materials Grading Coordinator (1st Shift) You will inspect and grade all long‑hold cheese stored in external warehouses, regrade bulk order cheese sold to customers, and regrade all product within specified time limits. The role requires problem solving at raw material vendors and warehouses, as well as project management (e.g., Aged Cheese Program) to maximize efficiency and profit. Effective communication at all levels with customers and vendors, and the ability to promote the company’s reputation, are essential. This position will travel between our Plymouth and Oostburg facilities as needed.
Responsibilities
Inspect and grade long‑hold cheese in external warehouses for regrading.
Regrade bulk order cheese sold to customers and regrade products within specified time limits.
Problem solve cheese‑related issues at raw material vendors and warehouses.
Manage projects such as the Aged Cheese Program to enhance efficiency and profitability.
Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams to uphold the company’s reputation.
Travel between Plymouth and Oostburg facilities as needed.
Qualifications
Possession of a Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Cheese License for American Cheese.
High school diploma or equivalent (required). Post‑secondary education preferred.
At least four years of experience in the dairy industry, with experience in cheese grading or laboratory work preferred.
Ability to forecast future cheese attributes and make decisive quality assessments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal staff, vendors, warehouse personnel, and external quality staff.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to problem‑solve and negotiate solutions under diverse conditions.
