Police Academy Work Study Supervised By Assistant Director, Police Academy.

Function of the Job Assist the Police Academy staff with general office processes while maintaining confidentiality of all student records. Work may be performed in college or in the Police Academy building, located next to the college at 1608 Sauk Road.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with special projects and events such as Police Academy testing, orientation, and graduation, which may require working in a location off‑campus.

Assist new instructors with computer and audio/visual equipment before classes.

Perform various job tasks including typing documents, making copies, communicating with police agencies and/or recruits, uploading documents to the CANVAS learning system, and coordinating scheduling with staff and faculty.

Other duties as reasonably assigned by Police Academy staff.

Essential Functions

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all matters.

Communicate by telephone and email.

Proficiency with computers and word processing.

Operate basic office equipment.

Understand and follow verbal/visual orders from supervisors.

Get along with co‑workers and follow directions.

Personal Interaction Daily contact with college personnel, faculty, students, and the general public in routine performance of duties and departmental services.

Supervision Exercised None.

Program Requirements The Federal Work-Study Program provides part‑time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay educational expenses. Students participating in the program are paid minimum wage and can work up to 20 hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed.

To qualify:

Enrolled half‑time (or greater) at the college (half‑time is 6 credit hours for fall/spring and 3 credit hours for summer).

Enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program.

In good academic standing.

Have eligibility (financial need) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Tort Liability Statement Coordinates the College Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring conditions, events and circumstances present through daily college operations, and communicating observations to the appropriate supervisor or taking necessary actions to correct, prevent or limit safety problems. May serve as a member of a committee that supports the health, safety and/or legal rights of visitors, students and staff. Such committees may include the AA/EEO, Sexual Harassment, and Safety/Loss Control committees. (Risk Management Categories I, III, IV. See Tort file.)
