Distribution Designer
in Greenville, MS. This role may be filled at Levels I, II, III, or Senior, depending on experience.
Job Summary Responsible for meeting with customers to determine electric needs and requirements. Design jobs to install, replace, or remove distribution facilities to support customer requests, reliability projects, or infrastructure improvement.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manage multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses.
Meet with customers to determine service needs, design overhead and underground line extensions, estimate costs, prepare construction drawings, and coordinate construction commitments.
Coordinate and lead pre‑design and pre‑construction meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Perform engineering calculations for planning and corrective projects (load studies, revenue justification, fault current, voltage drop, etc.).
Provide leadership and technical support to local operations and contract compliance with distribution design standards.
Aid the Right of Way agent with acquiring permits and ROW documents.
Assist with storm restoration efforts, including damage assessment activities.
Minimum Requirements Designer I
One of: Bachelor’s degree (any discipline); 2‑year Technical Associate degree; 1‑year Electric Utility Distribution or Transmission Design experience; 2+ years of Electric Utility field operational experience.
Or Department Senior Manager approval.
Designer II
2+ years Electric Utility Distribution or Transmission Design experience.
One of: Bachelor’s degree (any discipline); 2‑year Technical Associate degree; 2 additional years of Design experience; 2+ years of field operational experience.
Or Department Senior Manager approval.
Designer III
4+ years Electric Utility Distribution or Transmission Design experience.
One of: Bachelor’s degree (any discipline); 2‑year Technical Associate degree; 2 additional years of Design experience; 2+ years of field operational experience.
Or Department Senior Manager approval.
Designer Senior
6+ years Electric Utility Distribution or Transmission Design experience.
One of: Bachelor’s degree (any discipline); 2‑year Technical Associate degree; 2 additional years of Design experience; 2+ years of field operational experience.
Or Department Senior Manager approval.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with PC operations and related software.
Basic theory of electricity and interpretation of construction drawings.
Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Self‑motivated team player.
Good math skills.
Familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code and National Electrical Code.
Commitment to safety and following Entergy safety policies.

Asset protection and equipment maintenance.
Customer‑service orientation.
