Position Overview
UPMC is hiring a Registered Dietitian to join the Nutritional Services Team. This regular full‑time position will be region based and may require local travel between UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon locations. The schedule is Monday‑through‑Friday day shift, with some flexibility. Rotating weekends and holidays will be required. The role will focus on cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation nutrition education assistance. Key Responsibilities
Perform in accordance with system‑wide competencies and behaviors. Act as the nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units and participate in interdisciplinary committees for nutrition care process improvement. Execute order writing per the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol. Prepare professional written materials, presentations, and communications adaptable to all health literacy levels. Document outpatient billing accurately to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team. Formulate nutrition diagnoses and identify malnutrition using Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and national criteria. Provide nutrition education and counseling based on patient/family learning needs. Deliver quality medical nutrition therapy, including assessment, goal setting, and plan of care. Provide timely interventions based on nutrition risk level and the plan of care. Participate in department‑based quality process improvement and evidence‑based practice activities. Lead one department initiative annually with evidence‑based endorsement. Provide in‑servicing or CEU opportunities to the multidisciplinary team. Mentor and train dietetic students, interns, and support personnel. Qualifications
Registered Dietitian (RD) certification before January 1, 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics; or RD certification on or after January 1, 2026 with a master’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics. Minimum 2 years clinical nutrition experience for Dietitian I; 1 year for Dietitian II. Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) required. Act 33, Act 34, Act 73 FBI Clearance (if applicable). Analytical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills. Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills. Compensation
