Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Infection Preventionist
The LPN Infection Preventionist evaluates the quality of resident care and outcomes related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. The role involves collecting, preparing, and analyzing HAI data; presenting infection data and making recommendations for actions; monitoring associate compliance with infection control standards through use of barriers and measures; preparing and presenting education for staff, residents, and families; and serving as a resource to all departments and personnel.
Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements
Attended an accredited LPN program.
Currently licensed/registered in applicable State and must maintain an active Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) license in good standing throughout employment.
CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation, remaining current during employment.
Specialized IPC training beyond initial professional training or education prior to assuming the role; re-evaluation of knowledge and skills if facility population changes.
Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
Certifications or training per State requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse).
Specific Job Requirements
Designated associate responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies including the CDC.
On‑site IPC for COVID‑19 prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC recommendations.
Work onsite at the physical facility; not an off‑site consultant.
Develop and accountable for the Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
Maintain current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices.
Perform work within the scope of the LPN license.
Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in a post‑acute care facility.
Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
Perform proficiently in all applicable competency areas.
Maintain professional working relationships with all associates and vendors.
Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete mandatory Code of Conduct and other compliance training.
