Responsibilities
Inspect right-of-ways to assess vegetation conditions and determine required maintenance activities.
Assist in developing bid package maps and work manifests.
Research easement and land rights for widths, rights, and restrictions.
Meet with landowners to explain vegetation management work.
Mark work in the field where required.
Respond to public concerns and questions about the work.
Assist in the development of public relations materials.
Respond to contractor questions concerning work specification and requirements.
Inspect work completed by contractors for compliance to utility specifications.
Assist in the management of contractors during storm restoration operations.
Provide support and assistance on special projects as assigned by the utility.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field experience preferred.
ISA Certified Arborist designation desired but not required.
Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP) a plus but not required.
Experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, or Horticulture a plus but not required.
Must possess tree identification skills and the ability to read maps.
Strong customer service skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem‑solving capabilities, multi‑tasking, and attention to detail.
Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
Skilled with technology and proficient in Microsoft Office and smartphone use.
Capable of operating a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus but not required.
Physical Demands, Conditions, Work Environment
Must maintain attention and concentration for extended periods.
Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban city environments.
Physical demands include walking/hiking on varied terrain, potential exposure to noise, dust, grease, and weather.
Physical Requirements
Walk, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods.
Frequent stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and repeat hand movements.
Carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate weight (5-10 lbs).
Operate assigned equipment and vehicles.
Verbal communication to exchange information with the public.
Read and hear in normal range.
Operate field equipment such as handheld computer, range finder, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
Safety Safety is a top priority. Candidates must understand safety hazards, participate in safety briefings, and deliver industry‑specific safety messages when called upon.
Pre‑Qualifications
Must pass a pre‑employment drug test.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
