Requirements
Minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 36 months (3 years) as a Recreational Therapist
Ability to build rapport with patients
Compassionate and caring demeanor
Familiarity with medical terminology
A valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association)
Certificates accepted from the National Council for Therapeutic Certification (NCTRC) or the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC)
Responsibilities
Assess patient needs
Consider medical records
Personal observation and talks with the patient and his or her loved ones
Execute a therapeutic program targeted toward what that patient requires most
Keep current on communal and therapeutic resources available to best help the patients
Document a patient's progress during their activities
