A Brief Summary of This Position
Manually moves freight, stock, or other materials. Loads finished goods onto trucks. Understands all documents pertaining to storage, setting up and load. Maintains housekeeping in areas, observes all safety rules to company standards. Participates in accurate department inventory and product staging procedures. Checks proper identification of material being shipped by size, gauge, length, count and quality. Operates various forklifts, flat‑bed trucks and a variety of hand tools. Picks orders, manages inventory within a database and creates BOLs (bills of lading).
Work Hours
Friday – Sunday 6 AM – 6:15 PM
Essential Functions
Load product per shipping orders and pick sheet Operate fork lift, flat‑bed trucks (yard dogs) and hand tools Report any unsafe conditions to supervisor Handle scrap from all departments as required and control the flow of scrap trailers Assist with cycle counts and material handling moves from staging to storage monthly Pre‑prep poles for finisher (installing pole caps, throwing dunnage, nailing blocks, banding loads, banding pallets, shrink‑wrapping pallets, installing barcode tags, etc.) Install access covers for Bridge product and rivnuts
Important Details about the Role
Must report unsafe conditions to supervisor Perform daily forklift and truck safety/inspection checks as required Reports to the Shipping Supervisor; no direct or indirect reports Must work independently and/or as part of a team
Required Qualifications
Accurately read tape measures Stand 90% of the time Work outside in extreme heat or cold Operate forklifts, flat‑bed trucks and hand tools Accurately log inventory transactions Work overtime when required for business needs Be forklift certified by the company Work in a fast‑paced high‑volume environment
