Responsibilities
Administers medication (e.g., oral, intramuscular, and intravenous) and monitors patient medication compliance
Performs treatments and assists with nurse’s sick call
Assists with doctor’s sick call
Performs or assists with nursing management of chronic care clinics
Responds to emergencies providing emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Conducts subjective and objective assessment of patients
Collects vital signs and documents all findings in a timely manner
Collects urine and/or other bodily fluid specimens
Prepares patients for release or transfer to other facilities (e.g., intrasystem or court) by reviewing patient care, transfer summaries, or release summaries
Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services
Participates in work‑related training and institutional training exercises
Provides assistance to other healthcare staff
Investigates and documents problem areas or areas of concern
Reviews shift reports from preceding shift(s)
Assists physicians with medical procedures
Assumes duties of other nurses during absences
Counsels and provides education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and disease prevention
Participates in quality assurance activities
Provides training and work direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and/or hospital aides
Serves as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding healthcare matters
Provides orientation and training for new healthcare personnel at the direction of the Nursing Supervisor
Serves as the lead clinical authority on site in the absence of the HCA, QIC, medical director and/or advanced level provider staff
Participates in group programming and health and wellness initiatives
Performs administrative duties as indicated
Attends meetings and schedules multidisciplinary team meetings
Assumes the duties of shift charge as assigned by the HCA, making shift work assignments and adjustments as necessary
Performs or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
Assists ancillary staff as needed to ensure patient care needs are met

Compensation
Starting pay is approximately $78,000 based on location and shift assignments
