Northwest Florida Community Hospital (NFCH), in Chipley, FL, is seeking a PRN (as needed) experienced, energetic, strong and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care for patients in support with the medical providers, in our Med Surg Unit.

Responsibilities
Work closely with other Nurses and Nursing Assistants to divide care tasks for patients.
Provide direct patient care in an organized and timely manner. Demonstrate necessary skills in providing age‑appropriate care and document per unit policy.
Initiate and assist with emergency measures, identify life‑threatening arrhythmias and demonstrate knowledge of ACLS guidelines.
Maintain thorough understanding of all equipment on acute care units, including but not limited to beds, scales, IV pumps, enteral feeding pumps, SCDs, respiratory equipment, etc.
Initiate and maintain a sterile field and assist the physician as necessary with suturing, chest tube insertion, lumbar puncture, etc.
Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age‑specific criteria, patient clinical condition and safety policy.
Perform daily/nightly narcotic medication reconciliation checks with another licensed nurse to verify correct administration/documentation of scheduled drugs.
Perform AccuChek testing per policy, ensure that controls are dated with opened and expiration date; respond and document any actions taken in response to results.
Maintain and update patient charts per unit policy. Check each chart for completeness prior to releasing record to health information.
Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
Provide a safe environment for patients and family members. Reduce the risk of patient falls by keeping patient rooms and areas free of excess clutter.
Comply with infection control standards.
Ensure all confidentiality and privacy rights of residents are observed.
Support and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values; adhere to all hospital policies and procedures; commit to the Standards of Conduct; maintain professional appearance.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida and in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion.
Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension.
Good collaboration and teamwork skills.
Fast and adaptive problem‑solving abilities.
Keen attention to detail.
In‑depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations.
Physical strength and stamina.
Excellent computer and communication skills.
Follow all established Federal, State and Local rules, regulations and guidelines.
