Responsibilities This role functions autonomously to deliver speech therapy treatment, either through referral or direct to consumer. The candidate evaluates patients, develops treatment plans, assesses patients, and monitors progress toward treatment goals. They ensure patient needs are met through access to care, patient experience, and quality of care metrics while assisting in program development and enhancement to meet patient and community needs.
Performs evaluations and provides treatment programs to facilitate patient-specific goals.
Assesses patient response to treatment and recommends changes as appropriate.
Maintains patient records according to documentation standards, policies, and procedures.
Attains established productivity levels set forth by administration.
Assists in program development and enhancement to meet patient and community needs.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including privacy, introduction, service explanation, permission requests, and communication style.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
Work Experience
None required.
Certifications
Current speech pathologist license in the state of practice, or eligibility for licensure by examination, or reciprocity from another state.
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Certification of Clinical Competence from ASHA required within 2 years of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficiency in computers, software, and web-based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Excellent judgment and decision-making skills for a variety of patients and diagnoses.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain flexible with fluctuating schedules based on patient demand.
Physical and Environmental Demands Very Heavy Work – Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue and involve occupational risk for communicable diseases. Potential exposure to hazardous medications and waste exists through routine patient care activities.
