Job Description We are seeking a meticulous and hands‑on Analytical Laboratory Technician to join our materials purification team. This role supports experimental and production‑scale workflows focused on separating and refining specialty metals and compounds. Responsibilities include sample preparation, analytical testing, and routine lab operations that contribute to sustainable technologies and high‑purity materials.

Responsibilities

Prepare and process solid and liquid samples using grinding, digestion, dilution, and weighing techniques.

Conduct analytical testing using ICP‑MS, ICP‑OES, titration, gravimetric analysis, and moisture determination.

Maintain lab equipment including balances, glassware, and sample preparation tools.

Assist with packing separation columns and preparing reagents and buffers for aqueous processing.

Perform calibrations and quality checks under supervision of technical staff.

Document sample data and observations in lab notebooks and digital tracking systems.

Monitor inventory of consumables, chemicals, and gases.

Adhere to safety protocols when handling corrosive substances and metal‑bearing samples.

Ensure proper labeling and disposal of laboratory waste in compliance with safety standards.

Collaborate with engineering and analytical teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Qualifications Required

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Materials Science, or a related discipline – or equivalent lab experience.

Experience with ICP and chromatography.

1–3 years of experience in a chemical, metallurgical, or materials‑focused lab setting.

Familiarity with wet chemistry and common analytical instruments.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Comfortable using spreadsheets and following written procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in hydrometallurgy, mineral processing, or trace metal analysis.

Experience with acid digestion, filtration, and separation techniques.

Exposure to chromatography systems or advanced spectrometry tools.

Understanding of QA/QC documentation and lab accreditation standards.

Experience in pilot‑scale operations or cleanroom environments is a plus.

Work Environment This lab‑based role is set within a materials development and purification facility. Regular handling of reactive chemicals and powders occurs under controlled conditions. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to chemical hygiene protocols are required. The work environment is collaborative, involving scientists, engineers, and technical staff.
