Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice. The RN performs all staff nurse activities, including functioning as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability for assigned patients, delegating tasks to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and Sitters as appropriate, and ensuring assignments suit patients’ age and developmental level.
Qualifications Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups.
Required Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN within 3 years or transfer into the position. Earlier hires are grandfathered. Preferred Education: BSN.
Necessary Skills:
Demonstrates teamwork and professional communication with the healthcare team.
Learns and applies computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
Licensed to practice nursing in Florida or provision of eligibility letter.
BLS from AHA or American Red Cross on first day.
ACLS from AHA required at hire or transfer for CVICU and other listed departments; additional timeline details omitted for brevity.
PALS from AHA required for certain departments within 6 months.
Other certifications as specified: ACLS, PALS, NRP for fellowship RN's, Crisis Prevention Institute training for Psych Unit.
Preferred Licensure/Certifications: Professional certification preferred.
Required Experience: Less than one year of related experience. Preferred Experience: One year of clinical experience.
