The primary function of the Histology Technician is to conduct grossing and embedding of tissue specimens, ensuring precise preparation for histology analysis.

Schedule This is a part-time position (19 hours per week). Schedule: Thursday and Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Please note: The schedule is subject to change based on business needs.

Key Job Functions

Prepares histology material for pathologist review using established procedures, producing high‑quality materials at or above productivity standards and assisting in training new laboratory personnel.

Assists with specimen preparation, including identifying, sorting, and labeling blocks and slides; documents workflow using the laboratory informatics system; performs all duties following safety guidelines.

Participates in quality control processes, evaluates new equipment, procedures, and techniques, and prepares reagents and solutions while maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment.

Other duties as required or assigned.

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Histotechnician program or an Associate's degree.

Experience

Required: Three years of Histology Technician experience.

With an Associate's degree: one year of histopathology experience within the last ten years, supervised by a board‑certified pathologist.

With a NAACLS‑accredited program: no experience required.

Certification

Required: None.

Preferred: Histology Technician (HT) or Histology Technologist (HTL) registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).

Onsite Presence Required.
