THE OPPORTUNITY Western Forest Products is hiring for a

Project Manager

based in

Vancouver, WA

as part of our Engineered Wood Products at our Calvert Division.

Our Engineered Wood Products include Douglas Fir, Yellow Cedar, Southern Yellow Pine and Hem-Fir glulam beams, arches and columns. Primary markets include North America and Asia.

What You’ll Do:

The Project Manager, Engineered Wood Product manages glulam and mass timber projects from order handoff through design coordination, CAD modeling, shop drawings, fabrication, delivery, and closeout, while providing technical oversight of CNC fabrication operations. This role ensures project requirements are executed supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on mass timber professional with a strong combination of project management experience and CNC fabrication expertise, moving comfortably between the shop floor and project coordination, translating design intent into accurate shop drawings, CAM instructions, and efficient fabrication. The successful candidate understands glulam manufacturing from engineering through delivery, can support CNC operations and resolve fabrication issues, and takes ownership of schedule, quality, and results. The ability to communicate clearly, anticipate problems, and bring a practical, safety‑ and quality‑focused mindset to delivering successful mass timber projects is essential.

Work Environment:

This position will be based out of our Vancouver, WA office. Ability to travel as required is essential to this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES Project Management

Manage assigned projects from contract award through closeout;

Develop and maintain project, engineering, and fabrication schedules aligned with plant capacity;

Coordinate internal handoff from sales to engineering and operations, ensuring scope and assumptions are clear;

Monitor progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions to meet schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

CNC Fabrication & Technical Oversight

Provide technical leadership for CNC fabrication of glulam and mass timber components;

Produce, review, and approve shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and CNC‑ready CAD models;

Develop and support CAM programs and machine instructions for joinery, profiling, drilling, and connection features;

Troubleshoot CNC programs, support machine operators, and optimise machining strategies.

Engineering, Manufacturing & Logistics Coordination

Interface between engineering, detailing, and manufacturing teams;

Review contract documents and drawings for fabrication scope and constructability;

Coordinate production sequencing, quality requirements, and delivery logistics with plant operations;

Manage technical changes affecting drawings, CAM files, schedules, or cost.

Customer, Safety & Continuous Improvement

Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, engineers, and contractors;

Promote safe CNC and manufacturing practices and support quality control processes;

Capture lessons learned to improve project delivery and fabrication efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Forestry, Wood Products, or a related field; or equivalent experience;

5+ years of project management experience in structural wood products, mass timber, heavy timber, or related construction/manufacturing environments.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

Hands‑on experience producing shop drawings and CAM instructions for CNC fabrication;

Strong understanding of glulam manufacturing processes and connection systems;

Proven project management, communication, and problem‑solving skills;

Experience with mass timber CAD/CAM platforms (e.g., Cadwork, hsbCAD, Hundegger, SCM, etc.);

Experience supporting multi‑axis CNC machining centers;

PMP or similar certification.
