Retail Store Associate
The Retail Store Associate reports to the General Manager and is responsible for completing duties as assigned according to production and workflow standards, ensuring a positive customer experience in both the front and back of the store.
Essential Functions
Stock 1 hardlines cart per 15 minutes and/or 1 z‑rack per 15 minutes; reach position metrics within four weeks of training completion.
Maintain cash and donated goods security.
Operate register and POS system.
Comply with agency policies and procedures.
Provide high level of customer service front and back.
Perform duties per safety expectations and procedures, ensuring physical safety of back room and sales floor.
Communicate safety issues and concerns for quick resolution.
Count change and cash drawers, complete paperwork.
Greet customers, accept donations, issue receipts.
Operate hand stacker and pallet jack.
General store upkeep including sweeping, mopping, glass cleaning, and bathroom maintenance.
Production Responsibilities
Quick placement of high‑quality, processed goods to the sales floor.
Assist meeting production numbers set by divisional management.
Ensure loss prevention and process flow guidelines are followed.
All other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Work Environment and Physical Demands This job operates in a retail environment with merchandise displays and items available for purchase.
The position is very active, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves items over 35 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Position Type and Hours Non‑exempt. Hours vary, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Full‑time: 30‑40 hrs/week. Part‑time: 16‑24 hrs/week.
Qualifications
Customer service experience preferred.
Comfort with handling cash and operating a cash register.
Understanding of the donor process and its support of the mission.
Ability to perform job duties safely.
At least 6 months work history unless first job.
High school diploma or equivalent is not required.
Certified in hand stacker operation.
