Production Supervisor Cryovac – 2nd Shift (Accomac, VA)
Perdue Farms is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to manage daily 2nd‑shift operations in Accomac, VA. The supervisor will ensure efficient workflows, high‑quality output, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory compliance while fostering associate growth and maintaining a continuous improvement culture.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Safety and Risk Management
Enforce safety protocols and ensure team compliance with safety standards.
Conduct regular safety training, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and maintain safety compliance.
Food Safety and Quality Standards, Regulatory and Environmental Compliance and Continuous Improvement
Maintain compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation protocols.
Ensure product quality through SOP adherence and corrective actions.
Lead initiatives to reduce waste, contamination risks, and product recalls.
Implement quality control processes, inspections, audits, and environmental compliance.
Execute lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
People Development, Engagement and Leadership
Mentor and coach team members, manage performance, and foster an inclusive culture.
Drive associate engagement and retention.
Production Oversight
Supervise daily production activities to meet schedules, customer specifications, and quality standards.
Collaborate with maintenance to monitor equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Optimize labor, raw materials, and equipment usage for cost‑effective operations.
Reporting and Communication
Maintain accurate production records and provide regular updates to management.
Act as liaison between production teams and other departments.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Move light equipment, access files, and work in a wet, moist environment with temperatures ranging from 28°F to 100°F and up to 100% humidity.
Handle product and chemical exposure; wear protective equipment as directed by the company.
Minimum Education & Experience
High School Diploma/GED and 2‑3 years manufacturing experience.
1+ year supervisory role.
Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree candidates with no manufacturing experience must have at least 1+ year supervisory experience.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Associate or Bachelor’s degree (highly preferred).
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a focus on associate development.
In‑depth knowledge of quality control processes and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA).
Willingness to learn lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience Preferred
Poultry or Protein production experience.
Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, OSHA 10/30 or similar.
