Position Summary A Supervisor is defined as the operational leader for a shift, group or team of direct labor work force. This position reports to a manager who has responsibility for a collective of shifts, groups or teams. The Supervisor will Plan, Organize and Direct (POD) work to ensure a safe working environment and practices, maintain the highest quality of product and people, and achieve on-time schedule attainment.

Expectations for the Supervisor

Effective communicator: Evaluate direct reports both formally and informally, ensure expectations are understood for safety, quality and productivity, keep employees aware of company information/news, policy and expectations, communicate across the company, and participate in daily pass-downs when working with multiple supervisors.

Reporting and Administrative: Safety – report all near misses and incidents; Quality – responsible for accurate NCR reporting, redlining and escalation; ensure accurate time keeping for reports and payroll completion including PTO approvals; issue helpdesk tickets; make consumable or tool requests; schedule attainment communication and documentation; performance reviews – write mid-year and annual employee evaluations; discipline – prepare performance discipline documentation.

Managing for Daily Improvement: Encourage and participate in shop improvement teams; champion action items; ensure all employees maintain and improve 5S standards; identify and correct behavior or policy violations; identify and praise solid performance; communicate design and process improvement ideas; track and communicate man-hour status and goals.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and/or 5 years’ experience with basic GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, oxy-fuel cutting, and plasma arc cutting.

Basic PPE knowledge.

Proficiency with measuring devices and basic tools: tape measure, micrometer, calipers, square, level, angle finder, weld gauges, clamps.

Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.

Experience with welding power sources such as Miller and/or Lincoln.

Knowledge of amperage, wire speed, and consumable replacement procedures for specified welding types, maintaining cost effectiveness.

Ability to read and interpret welding symbols and drawing references per AWS A 2.4 and ASME standards.

Understanding of weld quality criteria: D1.1 and ASME section 9 for undercut, porosity, and size tolerances.

Knowledge of warpage and heat placement to achieve flatness and overall part conformity.

US work authorization is required; sponsorship not available.

Must satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc).
