Under the direct supervision of the PAT Manager and in collaboration with the Director, this role involves telephone interviews with patients, chart reviews, and coordination with the anesthesia team. The PAT Nurse plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety and optimizing the surgical experience.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities** * Conduct verbal assessments via phone or in person prior to surgery, collecting medical history and documenting findings in the EMR.* Use sound clinical judgment to review patient responses to pre-operative questionnaires and messages.* Identify and communicate pre-operative care needs using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.* Coordinate with anesthesia regarding lab results, medical concerns, and special needs prior to the day of surgery.* Provide clear, compassionate patient education and pre-operative instructions.* Respond promptly to patient inquiries and conduct outbound follow-up calls as needed.* Support patients and families with both procedural information and emotional reassurance.* Demonstrate strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia methods, and ambulatory surgery protocols to effectively answer questions.* Ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with HIPAA and facility protocols.* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.* Maintain knowledge of and compliance with Operatory policies, safety plans, and accreditation standards (e.g., AAAHC).* Participate in quality improvement activities and assume other duties as assigned. **Compliance Responsibilities** * Adhere to all OSHA, HIPAA, federal, and state regulations.* Remain compliant with AAAHC standards and OrthoVirginia policies and procedures. **Qualifications** * Graduate of an accredited nursing program* Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)* Proficient in basic computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR)* At least 2 years of experience in OR, PACU, ASC, ED, or ICU preferred Apply today to join a **team that’s passionate, innovative, and committed to setting the bar for outpatient surgical excellence**. *This organization participates in E-Verify.
