Responsibilities
Supervise CNA staff on the assigned unit to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care
Provide direct nursing care, including administering medications, wound care, colostomy changes, tube feedings, suctioning, IV administration, and other skilled interventions as assigned
Observe, document, and report changes in resident status to physicians, families, and leadership
Transcribe and carry out physician orders accurately
Participate in admissions, discharges, and transfers of residents
Conduct rounds to ensure resident needs are being met, and staff are following facility policies
Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate transportation needs for residents
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure holistic care
Maintain an adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment and notify appropriate personnel when needed
Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication within the team
Participate in survey processes, inspections, and QAPI activities
Treat all residents with dignity and respect, ensuring their rights and confidentiality are maintained
Follow infection control policies, safety procedures, and life safety/emergency protocols
Report any abuse, neglect, exposure incidents, or noncompliance according to policy
Complete all assigned training and skills competency requirements
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Current, unencumbered State of Massachusetts RN license
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff
Critical thinking skills to assess situations and provide appropriate care
Ability to handle different situations with professionalism and tact
Prior experience in long-term care is preferred but not required
