MEDICAL CITY DALLAS . This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus of up to $20K for candidates with prior BMT experience.

Job Summary

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of the patient’s health status following standards of care and disease-specific protocols.

Plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.

Provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance and incorporate patient/family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice.

Provide specialized care including:

Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration and management, including investigational protocols.

Transfusion of blood, platelets and fresh frozen plasma.

Management of patients with radiation implants, central venous access devices and spinal drains.

Bone marrow biopsy and aspiration.

Thoracentesis and paracentesis.

Epidural and intrathecal analgesia.

Qualifications

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (ASN) from Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. Compact license accepted. BSN required within 24 months of hire.

Current BLS- Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

Minimum of two years of experience in an acute care setting preferred. Oncology experience highly preferred.

ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate Provider must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.

American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
