Student Programs Manager at University of Southern California
Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Educational Administration, the Student Programs Manager will provide oversight of student services functions for Doctor of Medicine students. The manager will supervise staff and ensure the Department of Medical Education’s goals and objectives are accomplished in line with the School of Medicine’s mission. The role primarily works under the direction of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage the administration of non‑curricular program activities and services directed to students in the Doctor of Medicine program at Keck School of Medicine (KSOM), including support of educational, social, cultural, recreational, and general welfare needs. Oversight includes academic and career advising, student interest groups, affinity groups, event planning (orientation, white coat ceremony, graduation), academic support and advising, and student well‑being.
Manage the absence/attendance process. Work with academic departments and the Office of Curriculum to ensure students comply with completing educational activities related to absences.
Supervise the administrative functions of academic and career advising, academic support, and well‑being programs. Attend program meetings and resolve administrative issues as needed to achieve program objectives.
Exercise independent judgement, solve problems, supervise, and develop innovative approaches to managing a wide variety of student affairs programs and initiatives across KSOM units and departments.
Provide advice and assistance to prospective, new, and continuing medical students regarding student support services and non‑curricular programming.
Interpret and communicate student affairs policies, procedures, and guidelines to applicants, students, faculty, and staff.
Develop and implement new or revised program policies, goals, and objectives for the student affairs unit; present recommendations to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and administration as appropriate.
Supervise student services staff, determine work priorities, conduct job performance evaluations, and manage staff performance to ensure exemplary service quality.
Develop and prepare annual budget, reports, and financial projections.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development seminars, and serve on internal and external committees as requested.
Represent KSOM program at community and student functions.
Administer needs assessment, evaluate, and analyze student services activity effectiveness; develop recommendations and implement activities to ensure efficiencies and accuracy.
Lead special projects as assigned, including preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Salary:
The annual base salary range for this position is
$76,461.32 – $102,500 . Compensation factors considered include scope of responsibilities, experience, education, skills, peer equity, legal requirements, contract stipulations, grant funding, market conditions, and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education:
Master’s degree, combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
Minimum Experience:
3 years.
Minimum Field of Expertise:
Student personnel administration with supervisory experience.
