Inventory Specialist

Summary of Position The Inventory Specialist is responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate inventory across all Inn of the Mountain Gods (IMG) properties. This role plays a critical part in controlling food and beverage costs, minimizing waste, and supporting operational excellence through consistent inventory tracking and procurement support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain accurate records of food, beverage, and supply inventory across all IMG outlets

Conduct regular inventory counts and reconciliations for kitchens, bars, and storage areas

Collaborate with chefs and managers to forecast inventory needs and adjust par levels

Place and track orders with approved vendors; resolve discrepancies and returns promptly

Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO), labeling, and storage in compliance with health standards

Monitor inventory usage trends and report variances, waste, and shrinkage

Work closely with the Food and Beverage Director and Executive Chef to improve ordering and cost controls

Maintain and update inventory management software and reports

Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory audits

Train staff on proper inventory handling and documentation procedures

Demonstrated commitment to researching and implementing new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance the operations of Rocket City.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or hospitality preferred

Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory or supply management, preferably in food & beverage or hospitality

Strong organizational and time management skills

Familiarity with food safety and storage standards; proficiency in inventory systems and Microsoft Excel

Ability to work across multiple departments and physical locations

Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working in walk-ins or dry storage as needed

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. Must be able to use hand‑held communications devices. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The team member must be able to stand for several hours.

The noise level in the work environment is loud. The team member will be exposed to a second‑hand smoke‑filled environment. The team member may be exposed to biohazardous fluids such as blood and other body fluids. The team member may be exposed to hostile environments with guest. May be subject to high stress environments.
