Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager providing support to the Aerospace Management Systems Division (AFLCMC/ESA), which is within the USAF Electronic Systems Directorate and located at Hanscom AFB, MA.
The Aerospace Management Systems Division develops, delivers, and sustains air traffic management, CNS/ATM avionics expertise, and weather sensing and forecasting capabilities in support of military, civil, allied, and foreign military sales customers.
This position supports the Fixed Base Weather Systems (FBWS) program and provides comprehensive acquisition program management, reporting, contractor coordination, and project execution support. The role is aligned to the Front Office Group (FOG), which enables division‑level execution and supports the Senior Materiel Leader and Integrated Product Teams through centralized program execution and administrative oversight.
Qualifications / Skills
Clearance: Must currently hold and be able to maintain an active Secret Clearance.
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and at least three years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, of which three must be in the DoD OR.
Seven years of directly related experience, five of which must be in the DoD.
Experience in DoD acquisition program management, especially in an acquisition Program Office environment.
Proficiency with MS Office and related tools.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Responsibilities Program Reporting & Communication
Orchestrate the collection, compilation, and synthesis of data from all active FBWS projects to produce insightful weekly summary reports for the Program Management Office (PMO). These reports provide a concise overview of project focus, activities, and progress, facilitating informed decision‑making.
Author, maintain, and disseminate critical program documentation, including Monthly Activity Reports (MARs), Program Executive Office (PEO) Activity Reports (PARs), Acquisition Planning Baselines (APBs), and Notice To The Field (NTTF).
Ensure all reporting accurately reflects key program performance indicators, including achievement of key milestones and deliverables, progress against scheduled activities for the upcoming quarter, detailed schedule planning with critical dependencies, and monitoring of granular progress with key “inch‑stones”.
Program Management & Risk Mitigation
Continuously monitor project activities to ensure strict adherence to contract terms and conditions.
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential breaches or risks to contract compliance.
Implement a robust suspense management system to track, prioritize, and resolve all outstanding action items and deadlines.
Contractor Support & Coordination
Serve as the primary liaison and point of contact for system contractor.
Provide timely and accurate responses to contractor inquiries and facilitate administrative processes related to contractor personnel.
Manage data sharing processes with the contractor, ensuring compliance with security protocols and data governance policies.
Project Execution and Delivery
Assume accountability for the successful execution of assigned FBWS projects from initiation to closeout.
Manage projects such as Mass Labeling Project, Technical Order (TO) Consolidation Project, and Publication of TO Consolidation.
Program Support Functions
Provide critical program support by identifying, locating, and supplying relevant documentation to stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation, review, and editing of program‑related documents.
Apply analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify challenges and develop effective solutions for process improvements.
