Senior Aircraft Technician - MAR Sheet Metal (Contract)

is seeking an experienced helicopter sheet‑metal mechanic to join our Maintenance & Repair (MAR) team in
Grand Prairie, TX .
This is a temporary (contract) assignment with no fixed duration, but may be extended or shortened as needed.
Contractors are employed by a third‑party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
Responsibilities
Sheet Metal (80%)
Layout sheet‑metal parts by measuring and scribing for cutting and forming operations.
Cut raw materials to meet bend requirements, flanges, and crimping.
Create nesting arrangements to maximize part yield from standard‑size metal sheets.
Prepare patterns and templates to simplify manufacturing and assure proper dimensions.
Install sheet‑metal parts and assemblies; ensure installations do not endanger structure or systems.
Conduct structural and operational checks, troubleshoot, and perform corrective actions.
Read and interpret three‑dimensional blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and manuals.
Diagnose malfunctions, identify failures, and determine corrective action to restore systems to required specifications.
Perform corrective work by making repairs, adjustments, or replacements.
Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment.
Maintain close working relationships with the assigned lead and QA personnel regarding schedules, priorities, and parts issues.
Ensure all completed work complies with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and company specifications.
Coordinate with various departments on materials, supplies, equipment, and job schedules while keeping scrap to a minimum.
Documentation (15%)
Release and update timesheets on a daily basis.
Sign off work legibly and timely, using correct references, AMM, Engineering dispositions, and RDAS.
Complete toolbox audit sheets at the end of each shift.
Handle all forms and records related to assigned work.
Cleanliness (5%)
Maintain a clean and organized workspace “clean as you go.”
Keep toolbox free of F.O.D. (Fire, Oil, Dust) and return tools to proper shadowed cutouts.
Follow all OSHA, safety, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
U.S. person under ITAR requirements (citizenship, green card, or authorized person).
Travel required: 40% domestic and international.
Current A&P license (preferred).
No specific licensure or certification required; preferred: current A&P.
Physical and Work Requirements
Onsite: 90%
Vision: read and interpret computer screens, documents, and engineering drawings daily.
Hearing: listen to conversations and alarms on the production floor.
Speaking: participate in conversations and meetings.
Equipment Operation: operate most office and personal electronic equipment; use hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg) daily.
Lifting: lift up to 60 lbs (28 kg) daily.
Pushing/Pulling small office furniture and equipment daily.
Sitting: sit for extended periods during meetings or while working on a computer.
Squatting/Kneeling: retrieve items from low shelving daily.
Standing: stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
Walking: move through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
Travel: ability to travel independently on short notice as required.
Personal Protective Equipment: Safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, gloves, and other site or customer‑site gear.
