The Inventory Buyer/Planner plays a vital role in managing working capital effectively. This position is responsible for overseeing inventory management and executing day-to-day purchasing functions. In partnership with the Inventory Planning Manager, the role is instrumental in implementing inventory best practices to support the growth of distribution operations and production activities. The Buyer/Planner will apply inventory process expertise to meet the needs of internal stakeholders while also fulfilling customer expectations. Strong process management and analytical skills are crucial for sustained success in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Review and analyze inventory levels and collaborate with warehouse and accounting staff on inventory management.
Maintain and develop relationships with vendors and distribution management teams.
Partner with Strategic Sourcing Specialists and Category Management to address vendor-related issues, changes, and potential product additions.
Oversee the full purchase order lifecycle, from initiation to completion.
Ensure the smooth flow of materials and products through the supply chain by liaising with various departments within the organization.
Manage purchasing responsibilities for multiple locations and categories.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels based on procurement metrics.
Follow up on overdue purchase orders and provide updates to internal customers.
Resolve backorders and perform item maintenance as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong problem‑solving skills with an analytical mindset and effective communication abilities.
Familiarity with distribution, transportation, and supply chain processes.
Experience in expediting priority orders and managing vendor and logistical challenges.
Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Education and Experience
3–5 years of experience managing inventory using analytical statistics.
Distribution experience is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance, or a related field preferred.
Alternatively, 3–5 years of relevant industry experience may be considered in place of a degree.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
