Summary of Role Join our dynamic surgical team as a first assistant, where you'll play a crucial role in operative and invasive procedures. Essential Duties: * Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.* Review patient health data relevant to the operative or invasive procedure (e.g., history and physical).* Assist in surgeries by:* Using instruments, retractors, suction, and sponging techniques.* Handling and dissecting tissues.* Clamping and ligating vessels, coagulating bleeding points.* Placing drains and suturing muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin as directed by the surgeon.* Serve as a resource to peers and colleagues.* Maintain regulatory, credentialing, and privileging requirements.* Participate in ongoing education and competency verification.* Ensure privacy and confidentiality of health information.Requirements: * Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program.* Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).* Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certification* Licensure to practice in the State of Virginia* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.* At least two years of perioperative services experience, with a preference for orthopedic and total joint procedures.This organization participates in e-Verify.
