Responsibilities
Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures and inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during the daily activities of large‑scale wind, solar, and industrial projects.
Projects include, but are not limited to, roads, environmental (SWPPP), excavations, concrete, rebar, substations, transmission lines, solar racking and PV installation, underground utilities, wind turbine installation, steel erection, welding, piping, valves, pumps, compressors and a wide variety of other mechanical and electrical equipment.
Demonstrate good organizational, planning and time‑management skills.
Plan and conduct daily activities in a highly organized manner to ensure all QC and QA data are properly and accurately recorded.
Monitor and record all work scope being executed on a daily basis and follow reporting criteria as determined by FQM and/or the client.
Prevent deficiencies while working closely with field operating teams through pre‑construction quality control inspections.
Detect and address deficiencies in a timely and effective manner.
Work closely with field quality staff as their field representative and ensure construction understands and follows the QA/QC requirements.
Interface with field supervision to maintain an open line of communication, monitor job progress, schedules and subcontractor performance.
Maintain complete and accurate records during inspections so they can be transferred to permanent hard copy and/or electronic files.
Inspect the work and establish punch lists.
Determine the calibration status of measuring and test equipment.
Ensure daily task schedules are met to keep the project on schedule.
Interact cross‑functionally with craft personnel and other team members.
Maintain a professional appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field OR High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) plus 1–3 years experience in a related construction field.
Inspection related certifications, such as NDE, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Takes reasonable care of own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day‑to‑day delivery of this role, working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles.
Can independently perform work.
Is a self‑starter, organized, and has good interpersonal skills.
Reads, analyzes, and interprets blueprints and technical procedures.
Writes daily reports and documents project activities.
Effectively collects and records field data to assure activities conform to corporate Quality Control procedures.
Ensures the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned project tasks.
Preferred: Can calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume.
Preferred: Can apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Can solve problems individually and in a team setting.
