Burr & Forman LLP has an immediate opening in our
Atlanta, GA
office for a full-time
litigation legal practice assistant . This role involves performing complex administrative tasks that require knowledge of legal terminology and processes, including preparing legal documents, managing calendars, and coordinating logistics for meetings. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with at least two years of experience in a legal setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the legal team while managing a variety of responsibilities.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS
Prepare, edit, and proof contracts, agreements, pleadings, memos, reports, correspondence and other similar documents
Perform complex administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes
Actively participate in the civil procedure and litigation process, including distribution of signature, assembly and production of documents
Schedule and coordinate logistics for meetings, travel, and closings
Maintain calendars including deadlines
Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as needed
Process expense reimbursements
Answer incoming calls; prepare documents for shipment; and distribute mail
Open and maintain client files and organizational documents
Respond to inquiries for information
Other responsibilities as needed
The Essentials
At least two years of experience as a litigation legal secretary/assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department environment
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Proficient with Microsoft Word and ability to type 50 wpm
Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive with a desire to take ownership as a contributing member of the team
Balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Some overtime may be required
