We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer to build Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of our Infrastructure Operations team. Unlike other positions, this role focuses on scaling network systems and staying ahead of customer demand. You will drive stability and sustainability of next‑generation networks and help automate and scale these networks. Responsibilities include scaling support for multiple data center locations, day‑to‑day capacity management, and working closely with internal customers and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution as directed by Technical Program Managers. Ideal candidates are highly autonomous, detail‑oriented, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Significant experience in supporting large‑scale, enterprise‑class networks, excellent network implementation, and troubleshooting skills are required. A documented methodology for documentation and a proactive mindset for building or enhancing tools, best practices, and operational procedures are essential. The role requires U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. Key Job Responsibilities Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management. Perform device build and cabling validation activities. Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities. Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows. Participate in migrations (possibly during off business hours), basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware. Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system. Troubleshoot networking, routing, and inter‑connectivity issues, including device configuration and low‑level application interaction. Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes. Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow. Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles. Travel within the geographical work area is required, up to 40% travel outside the traditional work area may be required, including international travel and experience with small project scopes and ambiguous details within a relevant work environment. A Day in the Life A typical day for a Network Design Engineer on our team includes attending meetings, creating and executing change management activities in the data center, deploying hardware, connecting cabling, troubleshooting links, updating tickets, working with peers from across AWS to innovate and develop, and finding new ways to improve customer experience. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of vendor management experience. 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment. 5+ years of data center engineering or operations experience. 5+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience in vendor, data center, and operations environments (duplicated for emphasis). Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of construction or project management experience. Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License. Operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent. Experience in construction or project management. Compensation and Benefits Compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The Colorado base pay for this position ranges from $92,400/year up to $160,000/year. The National base pay ranges from $83,100/year in the lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in the highest. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
