Phlebotomist – Weekend Position
Schedule: Three 12‑hour shifts, from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Core Competencies
Performs required phlebotomy duties with strict adherence to proper patient identification, specimen labeling, handling, and transportation following all safety guidelines and procedures according to established laboratory policy. Employees will receive training if no prior experience.
Uses a variety of computer programs and systems.
Handles miscellaneous office functions: answering phones, checking and distributing faxes, maintaining stock and inventory, and checking refrigeration when documented.
Interacts with customers/patients in a friendly and caring manner, attending to both psychological and physical needs and maintaining communication to provide a secure and pleasant experience.
Understands that laboratory work is dynamic; duties of a phlebotomist can change with regulatory requirements and the healthcare environment.
May support evening, night, weekend, or holiday shifts for both outpatient and inpatient specimen collection.
May need to travel to perform specimen collection.

General Responsibilities
Organizes and prioritizes workload, identifying time‑sensitive tests and prioritizing as appropriate.
Maintains compliance with regulations, ready for unannounced inspections by staff, local, state, and federal agencies (including Medical Center, safety, and infection control policies).
Maintains a clean and orderly work environment, following laboratory, hospital, and accrediting agency safety and infection control guidelines.
Participates in quality improvement activities as appropriate.
Provides age‑appropriate care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma required.
Computer keyboard skills and navigation required.
Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience required within one year.
Valid driver’s license required.
Medical terminology and/or knowledge of basic anatomy preferred.
Physical Demands
Physical effort required. Frequently lifts objects up to 20 pounds; occasionally up to 40 pounds. Moderate reaching, bending, and stooping. Must be on one’s feet most of the time.

Category I – Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
Location: Montour Falls, NY. Pay: $18.00–$22.00 per hour. Position is full‑time.
