Nursing Unit Secretary – SRI – IP Nursing – Per Diem Days
Location: JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, Ocean Medical Center (Brick, New Jersey). Shift: Days. Status: Per Diem. Requisition #2025‑174557.
Join our team as a Unit Secretary where you will assist assigned patients with their treatments, procedures, and tests under the direction of the Registered Nurse and other designated staff. The role supports a high‑acuity environment and collaborates with nursing and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
Assist physicians and nurses with a variety of treatments, patient care procedures, and documentation.
Communicate pertinent information to the immediate supervisor and provide a comprehensive shift report on all patients.
Observe, record and report patient care outcomes, symptoms, treatments and reactions following institutional policies.
Participate in in‑service education and ongoing training.
Maintain a clean and organized patient care environment.
Notify the RN of any changes in patient condition in a timely manner and document appropriately.
Assist patients with personal care activities, such as bathing, oral hygiene, and mobility, as directed by the RN.
Contribute to patient and family teaching when performing procedures under supervision.
Perform additional duties or special assignments as required to support patient care and unit operations.
Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Proficiency in medical vocabulary and a general understanding of hospital policies and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and related platforms.
Completion of a Secretarial or Medical Terminology course is preferred.
Prior experience as a Nursing Unit Secretary in a hospital setting is preferred.
Compensation
Minimum hourly rate: $18.36 . Compensation is benchmarked against market data and may vary based on experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and departmental budget.
