OPERATIONS MANAGER for a client in Proctor, WV.
An international specialty manufacturing organization is building a next-generation chemical and food ingredient production facility in West Virginia. With significant long-term investment and multiple expansion phases planned, this site will play a critical role in the company’s global growth strategy.
We are looking for an accomplished Operations Manager to lead manufacturing operations during this exciting growth phase. This is a rare opportunity to join a greenfield operation at an advanced stage of construction and help establish the culture, systems, and performance standards from the ground up.
*This is a 100% on-site role.
What You Will Do: As Operations Manager, you will have full responsibility for production performance, operational discipline, safety leadership, and team development across a state-of-the-art chemical manufacturing operation. You will work closely with site leadership to build a high-performing organization that delivers on safety, quality, cost, and reliability—every day.
This role is ideal for a seasoned manufacturing leader who thrives in complex chemical environments and enjoys building teams, systems, and processes that stand the test of time.
Manufacturing Leadership
Direct all plant manufacturing activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations
Establish production plans that meet volume, quality, and cost objectives
People & Culture
Build, lead, and develop supervisors, operators, and technical teams
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Champion world‑class safety performance and regulatory compliance
Drive site-wide HSE initiatives aligned with corporate and statutory standard
Quality & Compliance
Ensure robust quality systems are in place and consistently followed
Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory and industry requirements
Operational Excellence
Lead productivity, yield, and loss‑reduction initiatives
Implement best‑in‑class manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
Manage operating budgets, cost controls, and resource optimization
Plan and execute capital projects within approved timelines and budgets
Performance Management
Establish meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and reporting systems
Benchmark performance and implement improvement actions
Training & Capability Building
Drive training, skills development, and succession planning across operations
What We Are Looking For: Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of manufacturing leadership experience OR High school diploma with 20+ years of progressive experience in chemical plant operations
Technical Expertise
Deep understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, equipment, and plant operations
Strong working knowledge of plant design, engineering interfaces, and commissioning activities
Leadership Skills
Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams in complex industrial environments
Excellent communication, decision‑making, and change‑management skills
Operational Track Record
Demonstrated success in driving safety excellence, process optimization, and cost improvement
Experience managing budgets, capital investments, and operational performance metrics
Regulatory Knowledge
Solid understanding of state and federal safety, environmental, and quality regulations
