Financial Aid Representative

We are seeking an organized and personable Financial Aid Representative to join our team at Midwest Technical Institute's Springfield, IL campus. The role supports prospective and current students in navigating the financial aid process, providing guidance on funding options, eligibility, and applications.
Job Summary Financial Aid Representative: Clear, accurate, and personalized guidance on funding options, eligibility, and application procedures. Must have excellent communication, attention to compliance, and a student‑centered approach.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Communication: Primary point of contact for students seeking aid information via phone, email, text, and virtual meetings.
Explain financial aid processes and guide students through FAFSA completion and document verification.
Financial Aid Processing: Review and assess applications, determine eligibility, package awards, and ensure timely processing in the student information system.
Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Maintain knowledge of Title IV regulations, institutional policies, FERPA, DOE standards, and audit requirements; safeguard student data.
Collaboration & Team Support: Partner with admissions, student accounts, and academic teams; attend meetings, trainings, and share feedback.
Other Duties: Assist with special projects, audits, departmental goals; demonstrate flexibility and proactivity.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of related work experience; prior work in a financial aid office is a plus.
Strong communication skills, problem‑solving, and professionalism.
Skills & Competencies
Problem‑solving, strong attendance and punctuality.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Customer‑focused mindset with friendly demeanor.
Self‑starter who can work independently.
Well‑organized with effective time and task management.
Proficiency with CRM systems, student information systems, and Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions
Infrequent travel ( Full‑time, standard 40‑hour week; occasional overtime possible.
Compensation & Benefits Salary: $40,000 – $50,000 per year.
