Responsibilities
Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Register sales on assigned cash register, and provide customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
Recommend items for sale to customers and provide trade‑up or companion items. Keep counters and shelves clean, take inventory, and maintain records. Check in and price merchandise as required.
Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program. Review and comply with Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policy.
Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including those to physicians. Process manual claims for third‑party prescription programs and perform related clerical duties.
Assist with inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals. File claims for warehouse overages and shortages.
Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco). Construct and maintain displays, including promotional and seasonal items.
Assist with separating food items and product placement. Conduct stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out method.
Maintain knowledge of store systems and equipment. Provide customer service in the photo area and manage web pick‑up responsibilities.
Assist with exterior and interior maintenance, keep the store in a clean and orderly condition, comply with company policies, maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, and complete special assignments as directed.
Training & Personal Development
Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager or assigned by corporate; acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.
