Position Description As an Applebee's® Assistant Manager, you will be engaged in all aspects of the day‑to‑day operations at the restaurant. You are responsible for ensuring guests and staff are passionate about their experience every day, leading the team, solving problems, handling stress, and driving excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines.
Cultivates a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee's core values.
Responds promptly to verbal guest complaints.
Prioritizes guest contact with completion of required table visits.
Maintains departmental inventory levels.
Ensures product preparation meets company standards through line checks.
Schedules employees to meet sales demands.
Manages safety and security programs.
Promotes restaurant cleanliness and sanitation.
Performs routine maintenance and reports needed repairs to GM/Area Director.
Fosters quality recruitment and referral of potential team members.
Trains new managers per Flynn | Applebee's procedures.
Maintains trained staff through orientation, training sessions, meetings, and policies.
Develops employees using One‑on‑One and performance documentation, contributing to written evaluations.
Assesses employee efficiency, provides regular feedback, and works on development areas.
Monitors employee performance and documents disciplinary situations.
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
Controls costs in assigned department.
Complies with local, state, federal laws and guidelines.
Drives bi‑weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories.
Prepares and submits accurate daily paperwork.
Maintains sanitation standards that meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards.
Provides a role model for managers and employees.
Develops self on all store‑related technology.
Willing and able to work in all positions and assist team member positions as needed.
Uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies.
Education and Experience
At least 2‑3 years of restaurant management experience.
Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol Certifications, also a plus.
Physical Standards
Work various shifts ranging in hours, including weekends.
Stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to ten (10) hours in length.
Safely lift pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc. up to 50 pounds in weight.
Read and write to facilitate communication; must possess finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment.
