Regional RN Assessment Coordinator
Midwest Health, Inc. is looking for a
Regional RN Assessment Coordinator (RNAC)
who will coordinate MDS processes related to assessment of residents across all of our communities.
The RNAC will be based out of one of our skilled nursing facilities and report directly to the Regional Director of Clinical Reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with supervisor, regional nurses, and MDS coordinators.
Gather current patient information for MDS assessment, including physical and mental states.
Assess electronic charts and coordinate with healthcare teams to ensure documentation is current and accurate for MDS coding.
Apply understanding of the new MDS 3.0 resident assessments, including the Care Area Assessments (CAA) process.
Maintain knowledge of OBRA assessments and Medicare/Medicaid policies.
Act as the main communicator with the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
Work independently with strong communication skills.
Work with therapy department to monitor rolling sevens.
Set up and maintain MDS schedules, coding, and audit for errors.
Understand MDS RAI regulations for coding MDS A‑Z.
Research, code, and lock assessments with SNF clinical team.
Batch and transmit MDS to CMS.
Perform weekly MDS ARD audits to identify missing information needed for accurate coding.
Key Requirements
Valid RN license in good standing with the State.
Minimum 2 years of experience with MDS.
Familiarity with RUG reimbursement for Medicare and Medicaid.
Software experience: My Unity, Point Click Care, Casamba, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
Knowledge of scheduling ARDs.
Knowledge of Quality Measures (QM).
Training in medical terminology, anatomy, health assessment, pharmacology, and clinical skills.
