Job Summary A Wire Room Operator EDM’s profiles into dies using wire machines and programs provided to blueprint specifications.
Essential Job Functions
Selects die from stock or previously laid out blank on which pattern is to be wired.
Checks die thickness, diameter, pinholes, keyways, pads, etc. according to blueprint specifications.
Lays out die and completes inspection sheet.
Checks wire size and machine squareness; indicates die, clamps die and checks that top of die is flat.
Verifies position of die and mirroring are correct.
Runs dry-run program, reloads program, and cuts die.
When finished, inspects slug for non-conforming marks; pins out die to check for abnormalities.
