MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – FIELD – Midland, TX

SUMMARY OF POSITION Assists Maintenance Technician II and III with repairs and troubleshooting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all safety regulations and standards.
Explain differences in PM schedules, fluid types, and capacities.
Identify greasing points included in the PM service for both trailer‑mounted units and tractors.
Check u‑joints and determine if replacement is needed.
Inspect battery disconnect switches, properly power up and down equipment, and understand starting procedures.
Engage power‑take‑off on a tractor safely.
Apply basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and identify major failure points.
Check fluid levels after a PM service and identify components checked in run and no‑run states.
Identify all Liberty equipment by name.
Understand and use unit‑mounted tools during a PM service (e.g., fuel priming pump).
Complete all required paperwork accurately.
Read forms and manuals, including gauge and multimeter use.
Handle other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change with notice.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
1 year or less of related industry experience.
Basic understanding of engines, transmissions and their theories.
Able to perform PM services with little to no instruction.
Possess a basic tool set.
Basic knowledge of electrical circuits.
TRAINING & CROSS‑TRAINING
All training must be signed off by appropriate leadership before progression testing.
Progression test after 6 months of service requires 90% to pass.
Require guidance for advanced tasks.
Current employees must have no write‑ups within the past year.
New Hire Origination and PEC Training, Hydraulic Training Course, Air Brake Training Course, Wheel Bearing Training Course.
Cross‑training in the Parts Department: 2 days within the first month; signed off by Maintenance and Parts Manager.
