Operator - Plastic I
We are seeking an Operator – Plastic I for Pactiv Evergreen Inc. to work in our advanced manufacturing facility.
Overview The role requires operating production equipment following process instructions, shop floor control, and product specification sheets to produce high‑quality plastic parts. The operator leads activities on assigned lines, maintains a safe and clean area, and collaborates with teammates to ensure a cooperative environment.
Compensation
$20.07 – Paid Weekly
Eligible for quarterly bonus based on plant productivity
Available Shifts
7:00 pm to 7:00 am
7:00 am to 7:00 pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a safe, clean, and friendly work environment.
Ensure that customer requirements are met or exceeded.
Follow sampling procedures and input data into the SPC system.
Interpret SPC data and adjust processes within limits.
Operate and adjust machines within process limits to produce plastic parts with optimal efficiency and uptime.
Identify and troubleshoot machinery repairs and report findings.
Generate breakdown work orders and document downtimes.
Work closely with process technicians and support staff to achieve quality and uptime goals.
Monitor blending equipment for proper feed operation along line(s).
Assist in training supporting personnel.
Read and understand equipment manuals and diagrams.
Read and understand metric system measurements.
Analyze and troubleshoot problem areas.
Work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Supply cartons and bags to production.
Move finished product from conveyor to trailers or staging areas.
Remove unused and scrap packaging and transport to the middle warehouse for storage or recycling.
Control inventory throughout the process.
Follow all Food Safety/Quality programs per customer specifications and report issues.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Communication & Teamwork
Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Create an atmosphere of openness, honesty, trust, and teamwork.
Accurately post data from one source to another in ERP or peripheral systems.
Report shift activities effectively.
Safety
Understand and actively participate in all safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Know safe equipment operation.
Operate equipment safely and responsibly.
Technical Knowledge
Perform root cause analysis, implement corrective action, and understand cause and effect.
Understand process sheets and allowable adjustments.
Coorperate with Maintenance on equipment operation and needed repairs.
Quality / Housekeeping
Develop and maintain ISO‑compliant processes.
Work independently and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
Follow procedures to grind scrap plastic for reuse.
Perform quality checks per procedure.
Sort out‑of‑spec product for regrind.
Training
Ensure trainees follow procedures in the absence of a trainer.
Operate Equipment
Know thermoforming machinery and company‑specific products.
Know properties of plastics.
Install dies onto machines using clamps, bolts, and hand tools.
Activate machines to close dies and inject plastics.
Read specifications for setup and temperature/time settings.
Operate thermoforming and blending equipment safely and efficiently.
Operate motorized equipment and peripherals.
Efficiency
Maintain optimal machine efficiencies and uptime.
Set machine controls for temperature, volume, pressure, and time per procedures.
Meet or exceed performance standards and continuously improve upon them.
Inspection
Focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Identify major vs. minor defects.
Inspect and enter mold shots every 60‑90 minutes.
Product Knowledge
Know FK products and materials and differentiate between them.
Organization
Work independently and prioritize workload.
Organize and prioritize responsibilities.
Problem Solving
Think openly, listen, and resolve information issues.
Inventory Control / Management
Accurately count, weigh, and record units of materials moved or handled.
Control conveyor systems that move materials to/from departments.
Arrange materials/items in the specified sequence for assembly or distribution.
Safely load and unload materials to storage areas or vehicles.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
3–5 years of mechanical or technical experience in manufacturing.
Basic computer skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Acceptable score on the Fabri‑Kal mechanical aptitude test.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Work with little or no supervision.
Ada – Essential Functions
Work a 12‑hour shift, standing and walking for extended periods.
Climb.
Heed safety warnings, devices, and alarms.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Lift and carry products up to 75 lbs.
Resolve problems and establish cause‑effect relationships in the environment.
