Responsibilities
Answers telephone promptly; preferably by the third ring. Ensure calls are identified and properly categorized in order to forward to appropriate area within office timely and efficiently.
Demonstrates proper telephone etiquette when receiving, transferring, and placing calls on hold. Hold times are to be kept to a minimum.
Repeats key information when writing down messages to ensure accuracy.
Accurately enters patient demographics information and insurance data in the computer as documented.
Verifies insurance information, collects referrals and authorizations, and/or other forms as documented.
Checks to ensure that patients fill out applicable forms completely and correctly.
Informs secretary or Office Coordinator when supply level is approaching reorder point.
Copies patient records if requested by insurance company or other physician's office.
Distributes mail accurately and on a timely basis.
Efficiently schedules appointments, recording them as documented and following practice policy.
Responsible for completing daily receipts and journals and deposits to cashiers.
Responsible for assembling batches for daily superbills for physicians and accurately preparing them for submission to billing company.
Core Care Responsibilities
Acts as a liaison between customers / patients, families and Hospital staff. Comforts assigned patients and families while attending the hospital services.
Assists all customers / patients with communication needs (responds to requests and inquiries, informs the hospital staff of special requirements, provides site information or tours, responds to callers needing assistance, etc.).
Assists customers / patients in the compliance of Hospital policies and procedures, providing information and referring them to the proper service required.
Assists in the preparation of reports regarding tracking of activities for the assigned area(s).
Communicates the customer / patients' problems, questions, complains and concerns to appropriate staff members immediately.
Complies with current Hospital security and safety policies.
Follows up with customers / patients and the staff to ensure the timely and appropriate resolution of any issues or complaints.
Maintains appropriate customer / patient employee confidentiality at all times as observed by the Supervisor.
Promotes guest relations presenting a positive reflection of Mount Sinai to Physicians customers / patients, visitors and staff through a courteous and appropriate personal attitude.
Reports incidents to supervisor and Risk Management department within required timeframe in accordance with medical center policy.
Qualifications
License/Registration/Certification: Not applicable
Education: High School
Experience: 3-5 years experience in a healthcare setting preferred
