This position involves providing intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases that require a flexible use of a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques. Services are delivered in a variety of settings including local human services agencies, clinics, hospitals, schools, and community agencies. Key duties include assessing family dynamics and needs, intervening with patients and families with acute to severe medical and/or emotional disorders, serving as expert witness at court hearings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to help children achieve permanency. Employees supervise and train lower‑level social workers, students, and interns, and report to clinic managers, program directors, or unit supervisors. The hiring range is $59,774.00 per year. Responsibilities and Duties

Assessment/Evaluation

– 30%: Conduct individual assessments, use mental health and psychological evaluations, interview family members, and utilize structured assessment instruments. Coordinate inter‑agency review teams. Development of Treatment Goals and Service Plans

– 20%: Assist families in developing service plans and setting goals; create visitation agreements and maintain program documentation. Case Management and Service Plan Implementation

– 20%: Design and obtain appropriate services, ensure Medicaid‑at‑risk case management, and advocate for needed resources. Information and Referral

– 3%: Coordinate services, refer clients to resources, and facilitate communication with community services. Counseling

– 10%: Analyze client problems, support crisis intervention, and engage clients in problem‑solving. Teaching/Training

– 10%: Provide education to parents and foster parents on child behavior and service utilization. Consultation

– 3%: Guide program improvement and family unit changes. Monitoring/Review

– 2%: Review cases quarterly, prepare for court and agency reviews, and monitor client progress. Community Liaison

– 2%: Enhance public awareness of child abuse, neglect, and agency services. Case load typically ranges from fifteen to twenty cases. Foster care cases are assigned immediately after adjudicatory court hearings or when a family signs a voluntary placement agreement and continued until legal custody is returned to parents or relatives. Assist agency attorneys in preparing cases for court, present information to court, file juvenile petitions, and act as a knowledgeably competent witness. Possess thorough knowledge of NC General Statutes pertaining to Children’s Rights and the Juvenile Code. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices in complex casework, group work, and community problems. Extensive knowledge of medical, behavioral, and psychosocial problems and treatment theories. Ability to supervise, train, or instruct lower‑level staff. Strong rapport‑building skills and the capacity to collaborate with a range of professionals. Clear communication, effective planning, and execution of duties. Education/Certification

Minimum requirements: Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; or a Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work with completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative; or a Bachelor’s degree in social work with one year of directly related experience; or a Master’s degree in a human services field with one year of directly related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with two years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with three years of experience. Work Environment, Location, and Physical Demands

Work occurs in offices, at client homes, schools, health and mental health facilities, and community settings. May involve visits to correctional facilities or other institutions with odors and noise. Employees may experience emotional stress and physical injury from aggression; on‑call duties include covering after‑hour calls and working at emergency shelters during disasters. Seniority Level
