Responsibilities The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating delivery of care. The registered nurse is accountable for direct patient care and for supervising the care provided by professional and ancillary personnel. The registered nurse assesses and plans for the educational needs of the patient and family that will contribute to the maintenance or restoration of health status on discharge. As a member of the health team, the RN implements the nursing plan, coordinates with the medical plan and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Professionalism is demonstrated by quality of care, leadership and continued professional growth and development. Quality assurance endeavors, through process improvement initiatives, are implemented through and with the nursing team. Any RN in the hospital may be requested to float to other departments as patient needs dictate.
Nurse Residency Program New graduate nurses or registered nurses who are new to the specialty of Obstetrics are eligible to participate in the Family Birthing Place Residency program.
Program Overview
Structured orientation and preceptorship with experienced OB nurses.
Progressive clinical skill development and hands‑on training.
Didactic learning sessions through AWHONN focused on perinatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
Ongoing mentorship and professional support during the transition to independent practice.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program & currently licensed in the State of Washington.
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers card (maintenance required).
NRP within 6 months of hire (maintenance required).
STABLE within 6 months of hire (maintenance required every two years).
ACLS within 12 months of hire (maintenance required).
Fetal Monitoring: AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Intermediate Course or higher within 6 months of hire (maintenance required every two years).
or C‑EFM (maintenance required every three years).
Preferred
One to two years of previous clinical experience preferred in appropriate nursing area.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
One year of experience in Obstetrics.
Wage Wage range currently starts at $41.39/hour and goes up to $75.91/hour. Actual wage will be based on years of applicable experience. Shift differentials apply; evenings (3p‑11p) = $3.00/hour, nights (11p‑7a) = $4.50/hour, weekends = $3.50/hour.
