Job Description Responsible for accurately registering patients in EMR, validating patient information, verifying insurance coverage, collecting required payments, and ensuring the patient's experience is best in class. Responsible for understanding and compliance with state and federal regulations related to hospital registrations.
Responsibilities
Customer Service/Patient Flow
Accurately and efficiently register patients in Epic; monitor and manage the flow of patients through the clinic utilizing initiative to ensure the patient experience is best in class.
Monitor patient schedules and review accounts to determine the patient's financial responsibility on account balance and arrange payment plans to collect; assist patients with access to government and community resources to enhance their access to health care services.
Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners and nursing staff to ensure that referrals to other providers/services/facilities are completed in accordance with payor requirements in a timely manner.
Facilitate the patient's access to information including but not limited to MyChart access.
Accurately update patients records as needed.
Accurately enter and update charges as necessary.
Actively support clinic, hospital and health system initiatives related to improvement in day-to-day operations.
Manage cash in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure that payments are accurately credited to patients' accounts and cash is maintained in a secure manner.
Meet site collection goals.
Actively support the organization's performance excellence initiatives.
Perform duties in a manner that results in improved patient outcomes and patient satisfaction scores.
Actively support the organization's Culture of Excellence using initiative to make suggestions that would improve the patient's experience and the environment of care.
Provide quality training and orientation for other Team Members when assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
6 months relevant experience (customer service, billing, registration, finance, or accounting) in medical office, hospital setting, or insurance office. Bachelor’s degree substitutes for required experience.
High School or equivalent.
Professional demeanor, excellent customer service skills, ability to multi-task, critical thinking, demonstrated computer literacy, ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency in Epic during the introductory period.
