Support Coordinator

This position supports the outpatient flow in the Ambulatory clinic, coordinating multiple appointments across many multi‑specialty clinical services, ensuring optimal patient satisfaction and clinic operation.
Essential Duties
Greets patients courteously and professionally.
Adheres to patient confidentiality procedures.
Processes new referrals promptly, obtaining required outside medical records, entering demographic data into the computer system (Cerner, PBAR), and coordinating insurance clearance.
Schedules patient diagnostic testing in a timely manner while accommodating patient needs.
Communicates schedules and instructions clearly to patients and staff.
Provides phone coverage and covers for sick leave, vacation, or other absences.
Works independently and as part of a team to accomplish duties promptly.
Uses proper chart formatting and prepares charts for diagnostic testing.
Assists in translation as needed and resolves scheduling issues with hospital personnel.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalent work experience in customer service or a medical office.
Proven record of dealing with the public in a customer‑service role.
Excellent communication skills and command of written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
At least 1 year experience in acute or ambulatory care.
Proficiency with word processing, Microsoft Outlook, Cerner, PBAR, scheduling systems, and intranet navigation.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). Must obtain a card within 30 days of hire if not already in possession.
Hourly rate range: $21.00 – $35.36.
